Just got this Ecoboost Moosetang yesterday for a week review. First impression was somewhat shocking - a Mustang that hums instead of burbles.

I drove the boostang at the Ecoboost challenge this summer. That was by far the highlight. I think the car had enough giddy-up for most people, and was pretty easy to get sideways in the little road course they had set up for you, if you knew what you were doing. Enjoy it.

Can you hear the turbos? I drove our Transit 250 ecoboost work van over the weekend and I could hear the subtle whistle of the turbochargers.

I test-drove one at a dealer. It took me 90% of the way through the test-drive to realize that the reason the car was so slow is that it has wayyyy more accelerator travel than anything I can remember driving... You really have to press and press to get to the power.

The sales rep mentioned that there is additional power opened up after 3000 miles... I was unsure if that was BS; I can’t seem to find anything now by Googling.

In any case, it handled well in the very subdued street driving we did, but it was too big for my personal interest.

Definitely could use an exhaust. Are there any tunes available now for the Ecoboost? I read Ford Racing has an engine reflash coming later this year that will bring an unspecified power bump covered by warranty.

Yeah there’s several. There’s two main tuning tools, the sct x4 & Cobb ap. Consensus is the Cobb allows tuning of more parameters. The usual Mustang modders ( bama, lund, etc) have tunes out, but I think the one churning out the best tunes is MAPerformance. They’re new to the Mustang platform, but they have a lot of experience with other turbo apps like dsm’s & subies.

ford racing tune is supposed to be out this quarter, but the forums are also rumbling about a factory ecu flash to provide a little bump with #’s closer to the v6 Camaro.
